Junior Landcare Victorian Youth Environment Conference

Ten lucky students from Hawkesdale P12 College will participate in the 2009 Junior Landcare Victorian Youth Environment Conference in Lorne, on August 4th and 5th. In past years students have attended similar conferences in Mildura, Bendigo, Canberra and Port Fairy. The idea is 'kids teaching kids' about a topic they have researched over the months leading up to the event, and in ways that kids like to learn - hand-on, interactive, with music, stories, costumes, experiments, dancing and art. Here are some of the topics you may like to consider researching for the event:
      1. How do bushfires affect water quality?
      2. Is desalination a good option to improve our water security?
      3. Acid sulphate and saline soils - How do they happen?
      4. Is recycled water safe to drink?
      5. Acid oceans - What does it mean?

You may have some other ideas - come and discuss them with me before you start your research.
